207 million people, one question

On the 1st of November at 7:30pm in the Arts Main Lecture Theatre, UoB Debating will be hosting a public debate on the subject of the US Presidential election. As usual, attendance is free, and audience speeches at the end are encouraged, with prizes for the best ones.

With less than a week until the presidential election in the United States, many of us are wondering which candidate will be the best option for the future of the US. Whilst the Democratic candidate and current president Barack Obama has been seen as successful on many fronts, including healthcare and the war on terror, he has been criticised for not fulfilling his pre-election promises on the economy.

On the other hand, some would argue that the Republican candidate Mitt Romney has the answer to the economic downturn, whilst others criticise him for controversial social policies.

In light of this division, UoB Debating has set the motion

‘The future of America – Obama or Romney?”
